Hi Race Fans. The second round of the Nitro Funny Car Championship took place at Santa Pod Raceway over the Bank Holiday weekend. To find out how we got on go to the Results page and click on the Main Event link. Alternatively go straight to the race report by clicking here... Our thanks to Ivan Sansom who has provided some action photos for us to use. There are a couple included in the race report and some more will appear on this site in the future. Well the first round of the 2004 Nitro Funny Car Championship took place over the weekend of May 1st - 3rd at Shakespeare County Raceway. As you will probably know by now the weather was not kind to us and from our point of view the meeting was a washout. So bear this in mind when you read the latest race report. Oh, and also consider the fact that I wasn't there for two thirds of it! Well after the long winter break the season has finally started. Our first outing of the year was the Easter weekend Thunderball at Santa Pod Raceway. This meeting hosts the Pro Fuel card Shootout where Nitro Funny Cars are run against top fuel dragsters. Showtime Racing won the inaugural event in 2000 and successfully defended the title the following year. However 2002 and 2003 saw the title go to the 'long cars'. Obviously we do not want this worrying trend to continue so we went to the Pod with the aim of reclaiming the title for the Funny Cars. We are very pleased to report that more new sponsors have come on board to help us defend our unbeaten record in the Nitro Funny Car Championship. Firstly welcome to Bill Simpson and his new company Impact Racing. Bill will be familiar to Drag Racing fans as the name behind the famous Simpson brand of safety equipment. His new company provides a full range of safety equipment such as helmets, driving suits, driving gloves, driving shoes, restraint shoes and crew gear. Showtime Crew Chief Bob Jarrett says, "We are very pleased to be associated with such a high-profile company and look forward to a successful racing season." Impact Racing will be the official supplier of safety equipment for the Showtime team, so you will be able to see the products in use, and you will be able to pick up a copy of the latest Impact Racing catalogue from the trailer at this years race meetings. Also joining the team are Ferrea Racing Components. Ferrea have been manufacturing hard core racing components for the last fourty years. They have a close association with leading cylinder head manufacturers and provide high quality valve train components from alloys and titanium. They can supply components for many applications and also manufacture custom valves to your own specifications. They will be the official supplier of valve components for Showtime in 2004. Ringers Gloves. New Sponsors For 2004!. The Showtime team are already working hard in preparation for the new season and are very pleased to announce that Ringers Gloves are coming on board as new sponsors the 2004. Ringers offer a wide range of specialist mechanics gloves along with accessories such as knee pads, heat sleeves, aprons and extrication gloves. The mechanics gloves come in four varieties, Authentic, Quick Fit, Cold Weather and Split Fit Air. They all offer maximum protection and comfort in the harshest conditions and are fully machine washable. Showtime Racing would also like to take this opportunity to thank Torco Racing Fuelcard Oils for their support over the 2003 season and we look forward to continuing this successful partnership during the defence of our Championship title in 2004. |
