*2025 Year in Review*
We started the 2025 Funny Car Cup in literally the best way possible at Easter – number 1 qualifiers, setting both ends of the European Records and ending the weekend with a win over Steve Ashdown.
The new European Funny Car records were now 4.124 seconds and a booming 307.88mph!
We rolled into race 2 with high hopes of a repeat weekend, and things pretty much went our way, in that we got the
number 1 spot again, and we got back to our second consecutive final, against Steve Ashdown again. Mother Nature had other plans,
though and the final was rained out and postponed until the second qualifying session at the next race.
That next race was Bug Jam 38, and the game plan hadn’t changed much, only that we were going for two trophies in the same weekend this time around!
In the first qualifying session, we really hit the ground running once again, but this time something quite extraordinary happened.
The plan was to shut the car off around the 800ft mark, and that’s what we did and rolled through the finish line at 269mph in 4.18 seconds.
The really cool part was that Santa Pod had the track configured for 1,320ft racing, and we stopped the clocks in
5.033 seconds at only 249.12mph – the quickest ¼ mile time set by a Funny Car ever in European Drag Racing history!
After this massive high, we suffered an engine explosion in Q2 – the rained-off Main Event Final. Steve Ashdown got the win, and we were out for the rest of the weekend.
The focus then shifted to ensuring we were ready for the FIA European Finals, to end the year on a high note.
Our whole team put in hours of work between Bug Jam 38 and the Finals, and we got back out running for that event!
We qualified number 1 with the 4.25, which we ran in Q2 – that was also shut off early at only 267mph.
Our weekend ended in in Round 1 with a loss to 2025 Funny Car Cup Champion Steve Ashdown. Congratulations to the whole Undertaker Racing team!
We still managed to finish 2nd in points and collected the “Funny Car Runners-Up” trophy at the awards banquet.
